That Wasn't Very Data-Driven Of You — Bold Type

Four lines of plain type, and one word doing all the work. The sentence is "that wasn't very data-driven of you", and "that" is set in bold italic and picked out in pink — which is exactly where the stress falls when somebody actually says it to you. The joke is the register clash. The construction is internet-speak, the sort of faintly passive-aggressive line typed into a group chat with a full stop at the end. The phrase dropped into the middle of it belongs to a quarterly review. Setting it plainly, with only the first word emphasised, lets it land the way it is spoken — flatly, and with one word leaned on. No chart, no ornament. Its two sibling designs put the same line over a scatter plot and set it like a wedding invitation. This one just says it. For data scientists, analysts, statisticians, and anyone who has sat through a decision arriving dressed as evidence. Printed in white on dark shirts or black on light, with the pink the same on both.
